How to Donate

Donating Materials
The Cokato Museum actively collects both archival material (documents, photographs, etc.) and objects relating to the history of Cokato and surrounding communities. The Museum will consider donations that meet the following criteria:
  • The gift must be relevant to the history of Cokato.
  • The Cokato Museum must have the ability to provide proper storage.
  • Donation must be of exhibitable quality.
  • for storage purposes we do not collect duplicates of an item.
Cash Donations
The Cokato Historical Society is a 501c3 nonprofit organization; all donations are tax-deductible.

Want your donation to go towards a certain project or fund? See our wish list for more details on the museum's exciting potential projects and needs. 

Making a cash donation:
  • The best way to donate is by cash or check. If mailing, please use this address.
  • Please make checks out to the Cokato Historical Society.
  • If you wish your donation to go towards a particular CHS fund or project please specify which on the check or in a note.

What does the Cokato Museum Collect?

We collect a variety of items, including, but not limited to:
  • Personal documents and photos about Cokato: people, places, homes, events, and other community activities.
  • Government, Church, School, organizations and Business Records.
  • Yearbooks 2000 - 2024
  • Wedding dresses - 1960's or newer
  • ​Items made in Cokato

What does the Cokato Museum NOT Collect?

In most cases we do not collect:
  • Books
  • Bibles
  • Incomplete Military uniforms
  • Yearbooks 1922 - 1999
  • Wedding dresses (1800s-1950s)
  • Furniture
  • Woodplanes
  • Typewriters
There are occasionally exceptions to the rule so don't be afraid to ask our staff.
